The SPCA and Uber have banded together to deliver kittens across Auckland and Wellington today.
This means that between noon and 4pm, app-based taxi service users will be able to book a "kitten car" for $30, which will bring a special delivery of feline joy, complete with SPCA staff member chaperone to their workplace. Each kitten delivery lasts 15 minutes, with two to three kittens included.
All proceeds go to the SPCA and Uber says the promotion is a bid to help raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption - especially in the lead up to Christmas, when animal shelters can hit kitten capacity.
The company has also done the promotion in more than nine US cities - which resulted in the adoption of more than 300 kittens. The kittens will be handled by SPCA staff and volunteers and kittens will be given time for rest and relaxation during the day, an Uber spokeswoman said.
