Up to 24 full-time and part-time jobs could be cut at DB Breweries if a decision to redevelop the Tui Brewery goes ahead.
The proposed redevelopment would involve the installation of a new, smaller capacity brewery affecting 24 jobs.
DB Breweries today entered into a consultation process which will determine whether changes to the current operations at Tui Brewery would take place.
Changes to the roles at the Mangatainoka plant would not come into effect until May 2016 if the proposal is given the go ahead.
In a statement, DB Breweries said the exact number of job losses would be determined at the conclusion of the consultation process.
The company has said it will not be commenting further on the issue for the time being.
"Due to the nature of this process, and out of respect for those involved, we're not in a position to share any further information about the consultation or the proposed development."
DB said it was committed to the brewery and had committed to spend millions of dollars on the Tui Tower.
