A month after Campbell Live finished, John Campbell was back in the 7pm slot last night - this time on a different channel.
To the delight of many, John Campbell turned up at the end of The Crowd Goes Wild on Prime last night. He was brought on by Andrew Mulligan, much to the surprise of his co-host Hayley Holt.
"I can't believe this crap show survived when they dropped mine," Campbell joked as he settled into his seat.
"We picked up quite a lot of your stuff," Holt replied.
"Thanks for having me on your show - wasn't up to much," Campbell added later.
He was brought on to talk about the Hurricanes, his favourite Super Rugby team. They also got John to test his news reading skills on some sports news.
As he came on, both Mulligan and Holt applauded Campbell as did the crew, and they repeated this as the credits rolled.
Campbell's surprise appearance was received positively on social media. A photo posted on the Crowd Goes Wild Facebook page has over 3,000 likes.
DavidPauline Adams said "Can't help but feel good when John is on screen," while Esther Weinberg said "Great to see Mr Campbell back on the telly. Go John!"
Campbell will continue his new sporting connections as a guest commentator at the All Blacks match in Samoa next Wednesday.
