A package located at Melville Park this morning has been found not to pose a risk to the public.
Defence Force explosives experts were called this morning to investigate the package found in the female toilets at the park.
Senior Sergeant Andrew Townsend of the Waikato District Command Centre said the area around the toilets was cordoned off after a Hamilton City Council worker reported finding the suspicious package.
"As a result an Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was called in to examine the item and it was found to be inert, posing no risk to the public.
"Police are keeping an open mind in regards to if today's incident is related to earlier ones in the city last week and we are appealing to the public to come forward with any information they may have."
Mr Townsend said information can be left with the Hamilton Police on 07 858 6200.
Alternatively, information can be left anonymously with the independent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
