A man has been charged with attempted murder after two stabbings in Hamilton yesterday, one of which left a man with life-threatening injuries.
Detective Senior Sergeant Ross Patterson said police had established a man had driven to the first victim's home on Merlot Place, in the suburb of Rototuna, where he confronted the victim shortly after 2pm.
During the fracas, the victim was chased into the garage of a neighbouring address, where the altercation continued.
"The victim managed to make his way back to his home, where he was assisted by his family and neighbours," Mr Patterson said.
Armed police were called to the street. They helped to ensure the safety of those present and assist the victim until St John ambulance staff arrived.
The victim was transported to Waikato Hospital, where he is currently in a stable condition.
A woman also suffered stab wounds at a third Hamilton address.
She was treated at Waikato Hospital and has since been discharged.
A 52-year-old Hamilton man will appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow charged with two counts of attempted murder.
Scene examinations of all three properties were continuing.
