Denise Lemmen got some strange stares from Whangarei motorists as she fundraised for Daffodil Day.
A human walking field of daffodils caused Whangarei motorists to take a second look.
Dressed in a suit pinned with hundreds of yellow daffodils, complete with a joker hat, Ms Lemmen, an ANZ home loan specialist, stood outside her work on Bank St yesterday to raise money for the Cancer Society for Daffodil Day.
It's her second year dressed completely in yellow and she said she gets a mixed reaction.
"I get a couple of people in cars who look and then look again. Kids though, they aren't too sure about this," she laughed.
Ms Lemmen said no arguments broke out between staff over who would have to wear the suit as she volunteered.
"I don't mind at all. I am introverted ... I lost my mum to cancer about five years ago so Daffodil Day is important, it gets people talking."
Last year volunteers across the region raised $121,000 for Cancer Society Northland.
Leann Smedley, fundraising events co-ordinator for Cancer Society Northland said they hoped to raise a similar amount this year.
