Absolute freedom is destructive
I have read your comment on the Gable Tostee affair (NZ Herald online) with complete agreement. Thank you for your honesty.
I am so sad that you have been abused so savagely - presumably by those same people who are most willing to abuse themselves in the name of 'freedom'.
I would go further than you - women were provided a measure of protection in former generations by an institution called marriage.
A man would be expected to show his care for a woman by a period of courtship. He would take the time to appreciate her as a person, not just a nice shape.
He would show his commitment to her by putting all his assets into a place where she would be secure and which she could call 'home'.
I associate the complete sexual licence of so many people with the terrifying epidemic of loneliness.
It raises the question of potential links to our sky-high mental illness and suicide rates.
Sex no longer serves stable relationships of love - it has displaced them. We have abolished society - and then blame the government that the mental health service is cash-strapped.
I can understand people hating you. The predators of our age would see you as a challenge to their lifestyles. And it seems that idealogues would rather have absolute freedom that is destructive, rather than limits in which people thrive.
Keep up the good work.
