Whether in front of the camera or behind it, Matthew (Matty) Lyle Beaumont was equally at home.
Matty, 31, was a programme scheduler for CTV and was identified on June 1, 2011 as one of the earthquake's victims.
In the late 1990s, Matty hosted his own children's programme, Matty B's Kids Clubhouse, which captured a strong following in Canterbury.
A film buff, he also reviewed movies for CTV and had starring roles in short films he made with friends for national competitions.
His parents said in a TVNZ interview that they wanted to thank emergency services, their family and Matty's fiancee Kelly. The couple had been due to marry in November 2011.
"Matthew means 'God's gift'," Mr Beaumont said, choking back tears, "and he was."
