Two women were taken to hospital after their horses were spooked at the same time and threw them to the ground.
The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was called to the rural property near Oropi, south of Tauranga.
A 51-year-old woman suffered lower back injuries and a 45-year-old suffered a fracture to her arm.
"It is unknown why, but both horses spooked at the same time throwing their riders," helicopter pilot Liam Brettkelly said.
The location was not suitable for a road ambulance, he said.
Both women were flown to Tauranga Hospital for treatment.
