A Wellington nurse has been accused of making her primary school-aged daughter sick deliberately, after she was found to have given her doses of an anti-psychotic medicine over a two month period.
The Hutt Valley woman is being investigated by police, Fairfax reported, and is understood to be an employee of Hutt Hospital.
She cannot be named.
Court documents show the woman is charged with intentionally administering risperidone to a minor between June 1 and August 10 last year.
She is accused of giving the doses to cause adverse effects to her daughter's health.
Wellington district child protection unit head Detective Senior Sergeant Neil Holden confirmed to Fairfax that the woman is facing a charge in relation to ill-treatment of her daughter.
There is a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail for that offence.
The woman has been a registered nurse for more than 10 years, according to Nursing Council records.
She appeared in court to face the charge last year.
