The two-year-old girl fatally shot in her South Auckland home was farewelled yesterday.
Mangere MP Su'a William Sio said the toddler's family travelled up north over the weekend for her tangi at Motuti Marae, Hokianga, where her mother has family ties.
He said he understood the youngster was buried at a ceremony yesterday.
Mr Sio once again called on the public to not pass judgment and to allow the family to grieve for their child.
"My job has been to calm everybody so they don't pass judgment. We all feel for the loss of this young, precious life.
"No amount of punishment ... is going to take away the grief."
A man charged in connection with the fatal shooting was declined bail when he appeared in the Manukau District Court on Friday, charged with the unlawful possession of a sawn-off shotgun.
He was granted interim name suppression after his lawyer said the man was yet to tell his father about the charge.
Emergency services were called to a Favona Rd property just before midday on Thursday. Neighbours reported hearing a loud bang, followed by hysterical screaming.
