Aside from fog-affected flights in the capital, transport in Wellington is running as normal.
Cyclone Cook's wrath has yet to hit the city, and until then most commuter services are running business as usual.
Due to fog, some flights are being diverted from Wellington Airport and some departures are being cancelled, but this depends on varying visibility.
Airport spokesman Greg Thomas said the low cloud affecting flights has been coming and going.
There would be periods of half an hour in which flights would be diverted and cancelled, and then another half hour when fog would clear enough for flights to land and depart, he said.
He could not say yet whether airport staff expected weather to badly affect flights in the evening.
"There is potential for that to occur later on this evening, that just depends on the level of the wind and the direction of the wind."
Meanwhile, ferry services both across the harbour and between the North and South Islands continue.
A KiwiRail spokesman said the Interislander ferries were still sailing across the strait.
"We are monitoring the situation carefully but so far the weather has not affected Interislander scheduled sailings. However the Kaiarahi has been restricted to freight-only sailings, but we expect her to be fully operational later today," he said.
A East by West Ferries employee said local ferry services were unaffected, and if weather worsened later and services needed to stop they would inform the public.
