Rotorua golfer Danny Lee is at it again holding a share of fifth place after the first round of The Barclays in New Jersey this morning.
The Barclays is the first of four playoff tournaments held at the end of the PGA Tour season to find the FedEX Cup champion.
Lee shot a four-under 66 this morning at Plainfield Country Club to sit in a share of fifth after the first round. He is only one shot off the leaders after the first round.
The first playoff event is the The Barclays, reserved for the top 125 players on the FedEx Cup rankings, followed by the Deutsche Bank Championship (for the top 100), the BMW Championship (the top 70) and the final Tour Championship reserved for the top 30 players.
The playoff events carry four times the points of regular season tournaments giving players a better chance of making the Tour Championship on September 24-27.
The winner of the FedEx Cup found after the Tour Championship will take home a cheque for $10,000,000.
Lee is currently ranked 10th on the FeEx Cup standings and is in line to record another top result, and move further up the standings, after his first round at The Barclays in New Jersey.
