Locals will have the chance to experience an up-close-and-personal performance by award-winning Hollie Smith when she visits Rotorua for her Water Or Gold acoustic tour.
The tour will see the singer-songwriter stripping it all back in gigs across New Zealand, and she is set to hit Rotorua on October 7.
It follows the release of Smith's third solo album Water Or Gold, which was released on April 1 and debuted at number one in the New Zealand charts.
Upon release, the album kept its spot at the top of the charts for three weeks running.
Smith said she liked to do up-close-and-personal gigs as it was "nice to do a more intimate setting and venue".
Smith's tour kicks off in Whangarei on September 9 and ends in Kerikeri on October 14, taking in the country's main centres as well as the road less toured.
"It's just a really nice way to get to those smaller places, and get out and see more of the country."
Smith said she had performed in Rotorua previously for the Rotorua Blues Festival, but thought this would be the first time she had performed her own solo show in the city.
Smith's Rotorua show is being held at Ponsonby Rd Lounge Bar from 7pm to 10pm.
She said she was looking forward to playing there, and that the show would showcase both songs from the new album and older songs.
Marika Hodgson will accompany Smith on bass guitar.
Smith emerged in the late 1990s, working with the likes of Fat Freddy's Drop and Trinity Roots, before establishing her name as one of New Zealand's most cherished acts with the 2006 Don McGlashan penned Bathe In The River.
Her debut album Long Player sold double platinum and won awards for Best Producer, Best Female Solo Artist and Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2007 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards.
