Rotorua police are asking for the public's help after the aggravated robbery of the Pleasant Heights Supermarket.
Detective Sergeant Tony Colby said a man entered the supermarket on Thomas Cres about 8.40pm on Saturday and threatened workers with a pair of scissors, making them hand over cash from the till.
Following this he ran from the shop leaving the two workers shocked but otherwise unharmed.
The man was described as about 1.82m (6ft tall), of medium build and was wearing black shoes with white soles, blue jeans and a black hoodie with bands on the arms.
He was also wearing a light coloured balaclava and gloves.
Rotorua police would like to hear from any members of the public who witnessed what happened or saw someone matching this description.
