The sounds of jazz, blues and classic rock will fill the TET Kings Theatre on September 5 as local musicians come from around the region to perform at a musical variety night.
'An Evening of Great Music' is being organised by local singer songwriter Kristan Burnnand. "Stratford's TET King's Theatre is a great venue, and I thought what better way to showcase it than with something a bit different."
Kristan, who grew up in Taranaki, has plans to leave the region later this year and says this event is also a way to farewell all the artists he has had the pleasure of playing with over the past ten years.
"There are a lot of talented artists in Taranaki and I think this show is a great way to showcase some of the local talent."
Kristan says a highlight of the show will be a performance from guitarist Jackson Kyle. "Many people will remember Jackson who grew up in Stratford, he's incredibly talented and is coming up from Wellington to perform on the night."
Artists will also include a number of local students who recently performed at the annual Lions Music Awards.
Kristan says in line with TET Kings Theatre tradition the event will have an intermission. "The first half of the night will be an acoustic set and the second half will be more electric." He adds that the second half will also include a performance by Hawera band King Tide featuring Chris Gimlet, "a veteran keyboard player and absolute legend".
'An Evening of Great Music' will have something for everyone says Kristan, adding "this will not be your average cover performance night".
Tickets are only $10 at the door and it is a BYO event, "come along and enjoy a fantastic night of entertainment".
'An Evening of Great Music' will be at the TET Kings Theatre on September 5. Any artists who are interested in performing can contact Kristan by email at togetkb@gmail.com
