We had a great opening last week, supporting our local artists with their exhibition of painting, weaving, pottery, carving and photography at the twice-yearly Stratford Art Society exhibition, held at the Percy Thomson Gallery.
Featuring more than 200 individual pieces and a wide variety of subject matter and medium, the show runs until December 13.
Make sure you get along to check out our local talent.
As one of the longest-running clubs in New Zealand, the Stratford Art Society was established in 1948 and has continued to be a large presence on the Taranaki art scene ever since.
With more than two hundred active members, most of whom are based within the Stratford area, and some from as far away as Australia, the society's intention is to support and educate artists of all disciplines and from all levels.
This means that any creative individual is accepted and has the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in the exhibitions that they put on at the gallery.
To their members the society offers workshops, classes, social events, a website to showcase work online and twice a year an opportunity to exhibit up to four different pieces of work in the Percy Thomson Gallery.
For more information please call into the gallery to pick up membership forms ($15 single, $20 for two subs at one address and $10 for juniors).
