More than 350 people filled the Stratford War Memorial hall on Saturday night for the Stratford Press Romeo Awards, a biennial event organised by the Stratford Business Association (SBA) to celebrate the great service from businesses in Stratford.
Chairman of the SBA, Peter Dalziel, says the night was a fantastic success.
"It was great to see so many people dressed up, ready to enjoy the night and celebrate the finalists and winners." He says credit goes to SBA secretary, Lauren Darrah.
"She spent a lot of time organising this event and her hard work paid off. On entering the venue I was absolutely taken aback. It looked amazing. She had turned the hall into a beautiful room suitable for hosting a black tie function." The judges would have had a very hard time, says Peter.
"Not only did we have a huge number of nominations come in, but the actual standard of the businesses and individuals involved was excellent. I don't envy the judges at all."
Feedback from the event has been positive.
"I have had quite a few people come up to me over the past couple of days and say what a great event it was, and lots of comments on how deserving the finalists, runners up and overall winners were."
Emcees, Ken and Anna from the More Fm Breakfast Show, kept the audience entertained as they introduced each award category and presenting sponsor. After a light supper served by Ink Pot Cafe during the awards presentation, attendees then were able to dance the night away to live music provided by On Yer Bike.
"Lots of people have already said how much they liked the music," says Peter.
"They have performed at the Romeo awards before and we would certainly have them back." He was impressed by all aspects of the night.
"From the brilliant work done by the Colonel Malone's team in running the bar, the delicious food from Ink Pot Cafe, the flower arrangements by the Stratford Floral Art Group, it all came together well, creating an enjoyable night out celebrating all that is great about businesses in Stratford."
