When Tūtaki Youth Inc first opened in 2013 they had just two staff members.
Their excellent success rate, combined with a high level of need for their services, has seen the Stratford based not-for-profit organisation grow substantially since then, with eight staff members now working out of their Juliet St office.
Tūtaki Youth Inc general manager Ellen Hall says the increase in staffing numbers led to them needing a second car.
"Our team are often out of the office working with young people in schools, transporting clients to appointments or visiting families at their home, and it was becoming impossible to schedule everything around the availability of a single car."
Ellen says they put in a funding application to Pub Charity Limited to help with the cost involved in purchasing a second vehicle.
"We were thrilled to hear we had been successful in our application.
"Once we had the money we asked Don Oakes of Don Oakes Motors in Stratford to help us find the car best suited to our needs."
Ellen says Don was "very helpful" and the Tūtaki Youth Inc team were soon the happy owners of a 2005 Honda Edex.
"Having a six-seater car was particularly important as it means we can transport young people to and from events and workshops we hold," says Ellen.
"It means we can remove one of the barriers to engagement, we can pick clients up to bring them to and from appointments, meaning they can better access the range of services we have available for them."
