A woman has been banned from flying Ryanair after her son spat at other passengers and she refused to restrain him.
The mother, her husband and three children were escorted away from Liverpool John Lennon Airport by police, the Liverpool Echo reported.
Passengers had complained about one of the children, a two-year-old boy, spitting at them as they boarded the flight from Barcelona to Liverpool.
The mother, reportedly in her late 20s, refused to secure the child and was abusive to cabin crew during the incident.
A passenger on the flight said the behavior was "all pretty surreal".
"At the baggage carousel, passengers were telling us how a boy had been spitting at people in the Barcelona departure lounge, they'd asked the parents to intervene, and the mum took exception to that.
"This behaviour carried on when on the plane, threats were made by her, and there was aggression towards the Ryanair stewards."
While the airline did not make a formal complaint, the woman was given a "strongly-worded warning" and banned her from flying with them again.
She was detained by police but would not receive criminal charges.
A Ryanair spokesman said "unruly or disruptive behavior" would not be tolerated.
