The nightmare run continues for the kiwi dollar.
The currency has plunged against the US dollar in overnight trading, falling below 39 US cents to a new record low of 38.95 US cents.
It is also down against the pound, to 27.03 British pence.
Earlier in the week, financial analysts were predicting the New Zealand dollar would bottom out at about 39.20 US cents.
The dollar's fall comes as the Euro also takes a hammering at the hands of the US dollar.
The Euro has dropped to 83.76 US cents, lower than the level it reached in September, when the European Central Bank stepped in to prop it up.
