The Government hopes people power will put oil companies under greater pressure to keep petrol prices down.
Associate Energy Minister Paul Swain has launched a new web page where the public can compare petrol price movements here and overseas.
He says if prices here are higher, then he hopes people voice their anger in whatever way they can.
Mr Swain says the web page will show weekly average prices and will let consumers see if they are getting a fair go.
