Rose sellers were about in Wanganui yesterday, selling blooms to raise funds for New Zealand Red Cross.
Wanganui co-ordinator Trudy Taylor said there were just 60 roses left from the 1500 blooms assembled at the beginning of the day. "We delivered a lot of pre-ordered bunches that were priced at $20 for a dozen and $10 for a bunch of six.
"The ones sold on the street were sold as single blooms or bunches of three for $5."
Trish Russell and Cushela Robson, who were out selling roses in Victoria Ave, said a number of people made donations but didn't take roses because they were not able to get them into water.
The annual fundraiser is held on different days around the country so the supplier can keep up with the demand.
