Local musicians are banding together to help a group of Vanuatu musicians affected by Cyclone Pam.
The cyclone caused widespread devastation in Vanuatu and other Pacific Islands when it hit in mid-March.
Whanganui Musicians' Club is dedicating its April monthly gig to the members of Younglife, who played at the club's last monthly gig as part of their New Zealand tour.
The gig will be held on Friday at the Savage Club Hall, and Daniel Harding will be MC.
Fred Frederikse said the club would match, dollar for dollar, donations made by the audience on the night.
He said the money would be given directly to the band, rather than donated through an aid agency.
The New Zealand-based manager of Younglife, Mike Hogan, said the band kicked off its New Zealand tour with the Whanganui Musicians' Club gig, and it was one of the highlights of the tour.
"The pure love of music was very apparent in this wonderful crew of club members, and we will never forget our warm reception and the generosity with which we were received at this venue," Mr Hogan said.
