It was a clean sweep for Wanganui hairdresser Emily Gudopp at the Whanganui Regional Hair Design Awards on Saturday.
She won the cut, style and colour categories of the next generation grade (under four years' experience) at the annual competition held at the racecourse.
It was Miss Gudopp's third time at the event where she had previously picked up third placings in single categories.
There were many late nights at the studio ahead of the weekend's event, Miss Gudopp said.
"Once you've found your models, it's about making the style work on them.
"You have to plan it out in your head and just go with it."
Miss Gudopp did her apprenticeship in Marton but had been at Jax Hair Studio for the past two years.
She said she loved the job's ability to affect someone's mood through a new cut.
"Just having someone come in and you can just change their whole life sort of, it's a whole transformation."
Event organiser Jacqui Broughton said the winners now had the opportunity to advance to the nationals in Auckland.
This year's competition featured fewer but bigger events, alongside make-up categories.
Meanwhile, Tiffiny Spencer won the senior cut and colour categories while Robyn Collins took out the senior style.
