Mosston School pupils in Whanganui had a number of "big days in" before they held Olympics at their school.
Principal Michelle Watson said nine national groups were formed to each represent a different country.
"The big day in sessions were for 25 minutes each day and the customs and culture of each country were studied.
"They looked at the art forms and sports that their chosen country is best known for.
"The students representing Brazil had a soccer game during one of their sessions."
Now that the Olympics are over, Mosston School's next adventure is a "big day out" with a trip to Wellington next week.
"We are leaving at 7am to have a full day which will include visiting Te Papa and the observatory and we will take the train up to Paparaumu," said Ms Watson.
With a planned return time of 6pm, it will be a long action-packed day out.
