A lamb with an unusual black spot on her back took out the championship ribbon at the Turakina School pet day.
Patches and her owner Tamsyn Blithe competed with five other lambs and judge Jim Mane assessed them on walking with their owners and responding to being called.
Mr Mane's job was easier when it came to the calf judging as Annabel Bielby and Tucker were the only entrants.
Tucker still had to make the grade, however, and won two ribbons - one for care and attention and another for walking well on a lead.
Eleven-year-old canine competitor Cha-chi did not do so well as she stepped out of her walking event to go and investigate the livestock events.
Cha-chi looked very fetching in a bumblebee suit while her three competitors went au naturel.
Greyhound Blues with owner Leah Olden was the eventual winner and Briar Rawhiti and her cat were the only entrants in the feline category.
Young nanny goat Rosie and owner Thomas Collins-Lowe also had it all her own way as the only one of her species on show.
After the pet competitions came the races and the piggy back relay race was won by whanau team Lucy O'Neill, 6, carried by dad Tim, Remy Cowper, 7, carried by dad Dan, Annabel Beilby, 7, who hitched a ride on dad Andrew's back while Karen Cowper stepped in to give Libby Hoban, 6, a lift.
After a barbecue lunch, there was a young farmer contest and judging of the baking competition with "kiwiana" cakes and biscuits as the theme.
