The weather may have been less than ideal but it did not deter garden lovers from visiting some of Whanganui's best on Monday.
The annual Garden Amble, was the final event for the Vintage Weekend programme.
Although there were fewer visitors than previous years, organiser David Orr said there was no shortage of enthusiasm.
"Those who have braved the weather have made the most of the day," he said.
"Last year we had over 500 visitors, but I think there have been around 200 this year."
Visitors to Lyn and Russell Goldworthy's Anzac Pde Garden were admiring the spectacular lilies in full bloom, while some were enjoying afternoon tea on the lawn.
There was also a plant stall with plenty of variety for green-fingered visitors to choose from.
Ten other Whanganui gardeners opened their grounds to visitors for the day and tickets were presold for $15 each.
Proceeds from the Garden Amble are donated to Arthritis New Zealand each year.
