The Plumber Dan Raft Race raised more than $1500 for Plunket on Saturday when weird and wonderful craft raced from the Anzac Boat Ramp.
The winners on the day were Crossfit Whanganui with Marist Rugby second and the Ali Arc team in third place.
"The Rainbow Raft Club won the prize for most creative costumes," said organiser Dan Goldsworthy.
"They gifted it back to the fund to be donated to Plunket."
Caleb Laird's Seek and Destroy team of six came fourth and their vessel stayed intact for the entire race.
"We felt like we did pretty well. Our raft was made of plastic barrels and timber, which held together well."
The same could not be said for the Trolls' raft, which fell apart as soon as it hit the water and a team of pirates did not make the winners' list despite their efforts to disable other vessels on the river.
Some entrants did not make the finish line at the Putiki Boat Ramp, although it is safe to say they all had fun trying.
