Don McGlashan and Shayne Carter will play Whanganui at Queens Birthday weekend.
The pair, who count Blam Blam Blam, the Front Lawn, the Mutton Birds, Straitjacket Fits and Dimmer as their respective alma mater, play the Royal Wanganui Opera House on June 3.
McGlashan and Carter debuted their partnership at the 2016 Auckland Arts Festival and reviews were adoring.
Metro magazine's reviewer said "the only thing wrong with this concert was that it was too short by half" while the New Zealand Herald called the performances "neatly unpredictable... highlights were the hypnotic spells cast by both of McGlashan's Envy of Angels and Seed from Carter's Dimmer days.
As well as his famous bands McGlashan has five entries in APRA's 100 Best NZ Songs of All Time and two Silver Scroll wins, and his 2006 song "Bathe In The River", sung by Hollie Smith, is one of the biggest NZ singles of all time.
Carter is no slouch either. He was given a Legacy Award at the 2008 NZ Music Awards and in 2004 Dimmer's album You've Got To Hear the Music won New Zealand Music Awards for Best Album and Best Group. Carter released his first solo album, titled Offsider, in August 2016. It's influenced by classical piano music including Chopin, Debussy's and Mozart.
