Ahoy, me hearties - a pirate cruise is in the offing thanks to Whanganui District Council's Youth Committee.
The committee is planning a fun trip up the river on the iconic paddle steamer, and skulls-and-crossed-bones, cutlasses and shivering timbers could all be part of the experience.
The cruise - planned in collaboration with the Waimarie Trust - will include plenty of attractions for children and families, including face painting, ice-creams and photos.
Walking the plank may be optional.
The Waimarie Pirate Cruise sails on Sunday, April 30, with boarding at 10.30am for an 11am departure, returning at 1pm.
The Waimarie is also giving away prizes for the best dressed pirates and princesses, so dressing up is encouraged.
Tickets are $15 for adults; $5 for children aged five to 15 years; and free for the under-fives. Numbers are limited.
