THE 19-piece River City Big Band will present a concert at Sarjeant on the Quay this Sunday.
With full sections of trumpet, trombone, saxophone and rhythm and three vocalists, it will present a varied programme of swing, jazz, rock, blues and Latin styles.
This is part of a series of performances under the banner of Musicians for the Sarjeant, a fundraising group for the gallery's redevelopment programme.
Formed in 2009 by current members Angela Crawford and Michael Smyth, the band is constantly evolving and improving under the musical direction of Gavin Herdman.
The addition of guitar professional Fred Loveridge, bass player/vocalist Roger Brasell, trumpet players Tracy Wilson and Karen Page, plus bass trombonist Jonathan Greenwell and vocalists Denise McNeill and Ash Mayor has bolstered the line-up.
River City Big Band, Sunday, May 21, 4.30pm at Sarjeant on the Quay. Tickets $12, gallery friends and stars $10 from The Sarjeant, 38 Quay, or phone 349 0506.
