A man who changed the details on a cheque will now have to repay $800 to a bank.
Keil Shaun Christian appeared in Whanganui District Court last week and pleaded guilty to one charge of using a document for pecuniary gain.
He had altered a cheque for $28.26 and got $800 out of the Westpac bank. The alteration was made without the permission of the issuer of the cheque.
The bank is seeking $800 in reparation.
Christain also pleaded guilty to charges of driving with excess breath alcohol and careless driving. They relate to his driving on April 20, when his breath alcohol was found to be 639mcg per litre of breath (legal limit 250mcg).
On that day his vehicle mounted the footpath, Police prosecutor Stephen Butler said. He was unable to start it and walked home.
Christian will be sentenced on June 12.
