The group behind the famous "a-bull" signs which adorn many Bulls shops and businesses has been wound up with its remaining money distributed to community causes.
Bulls and District Enterprises Incorporated (BDE) was formed almost three decades ago to promote businesses within the community, but has now been deregistered.
BDE had about $4000 in the bank and has donated $2000 to the Bulls volunteer fire brigade, $1000 to the Watch-a-Bull community patrol and made a contribution to the new Bulls community centre, including a chair dedicated to the memory John Bowen.
A businessman and volunteer firefighter, Mr Bowen was a former chair of BDE. He died in 2015.
BDE has effectively been inactive for a few years as it had lost its much of its income, outgoing treasurer Wally Plank said. It used to get an income from the rental of the old Bulls courthouse.
But after a long battle with Rangitikei District Council, which ended in court in 2010, BDE had to hand the courthouse lease back to the council and pay $14,000 rent it had received from the courthouse tenant.
Over its time, BDE initiated the "a-bull" slogan for the town, was behind the big bull that stands in High Street and ran the Unforgetabull website.
