Thousands of homes across Auckland had power cut this morning because of the risk of low hanging lines.
About 2500 houses around Avondale were affected and about 1000 homes in Titirangi. The outage occurred about 10.30am.
Hundreds of homes in Mt Wellington also lost power along with about 30 in Waimuku and Riverhead.
A Vector spokesperson told Fairfax the issue was due to the risk of low hanging lines.
"Low hanging lines are a hazard as they can become caught on passing trucks, so the power has been turned off in the areas as a precaution.
"We don't know the exact cause of the low hanging lines at this stage but there has been some bad weather about. Crews are working to get power back on as soon as we can."
Most of the homes in Avondale have been reconnected, according to Vector's website. Power is expected to be restored to remaining homes about 12.30pm.
